CEMASUD was founded in 2009 as the Community Agriculture and Environmental Protection Project (CAEPP) in response to the pressing need for sustainable development in rural areas. Over the years, we have evolved, expanding our focus to encompass various aspects of community empowerment and environmental conservation. In January 2022, we rebranded to CEMASUD to better reflect our mission and broaden our impact.
CEMASUD is aimed at alleviating acute poverty, food insecurity, environmental degradation and gender base violence in communities through the promotion of sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, socio-economic empowerment initiatives, and advocacy programs on gender justice.
CEMASUD’s mission is to promote the socio-economic empowerment of the vulnerable/disadvantage poor population thereby improving living standards, increasing community’s participation in environmental restoration and to foster sustainable development initiatives in local communities.
We address climate change, local development challenges and promote the aspirations of the poor, vulnerable and marginalized populations in Cameroon.
We envision a just and self-reliant society of men and women where individuals are socially and economically empowered and are committed towards the protection of their environment and sustainably managing their natural resources
